Right now, I have my surround sound system hooked up to my Xbox 360... but that doesn't play my burned discs... but my really cheap DVD player reads them... how do I hook up the surround system to the DVD player, do I need a fancy cord? the Xbox came

If you are just playing burned DVD's, then you can connect RCA cables (red and white) from the output of the DVD player to the input of the receiver.
