What are some good studio monitor speakers that can be used to mix and for EVERYDAY use with a laptop?

These are a little bit on the small size, to produce full-range sound, but they have good power, and a bass boost feature to help even out frequency response on the low end.

It is with great excitment I bring you the first episode in our series on studio monitors. During this series we are going to talk about buying monitors, are expensive cables really worth the cost? How to get the most out the speakers you have and more, infact we even have a prize to give away. This week I’m going to cover some basic monitor related terms, theory and give you some ideas on creating a good test CD.

I use a pair of denon scf-102′s fantastic little speakers only cost me £70, yes indeed full range speakers are way better than using subs. i do use a seperate amplifier a TEAC AG-10D, set it to direct matrix it produces really good sound all through the spectrum. Its also handy to have a decent vu/graphic eq display so you can actually “see” the frequencies performing as they should on the speaker
