Do twin cordless phones work in two rooms?

I am thinking of buying twin cordless phones. Do I plug one into the phone line and use the other in another room?

Sure if they work in concert off one phone connection. If they are different models, each will work but will need their own phone connection.

Consider the cost. Will it be cheaper to buy the twin phones or two cheap cordless phones,
