if i am gona buy a psp what firmware sould i try and get ? and what do different firmware do?

Try to get 2.5 if you want to use homebrew applications - then upgrade to dark_alex's 2.71SE version of the firmware. If you're just playing standard games, get the latest firmware. most PSP's in the shop's now will have at least 3.01 firmware.

So I don’t know if you’re familiar with the latest version of Takka’s ISO Tool or not, but I just downloaded it after reading about this “Fake NP data” feature. While I’m not 100% clear, mainly because of the poor Google Translation, it seems v1.975 can NPDRM EBOOT.BIN/ISO game files, disguising them as downloaded PSN content, letting you load ‘em up … possibly without HEN or CFW? And that’s what I’m not clear on.
