Alba 32" LCD TV and Bush 160gb Freeview+ box not compatible together, can anyone help?

Recently, i have got a Alba 32" LCD TV with V.8.14 receiver upgrade, which works fine on its own. However, i also brought a Bush 160gb recordable freeview box, which again works fine with other TVs, but when i put the two together, they don't seem

This is an odd situation, because Bush and Alba are the same company - they are brand 'names' for Argos, which purchased them in November 2008.

However, they are also notoriously unreliable, due to the fact that they are so cheap.
