My old videos are not homemade but the films bought as we now buy them on DVDs, except they are on VHS.?

Someone indicated I may not be able to copy my old VHS videos onto DVDs because of copyright. Is there anybody who can confirm this please. Thanks

8mm video tapes are a thing of the past, and should definitely stay that way. Nowadays, our engineers have come up with better ways to safeguard valuable data such as videos of precious moments, and it would be foolish to refuse to utilize these modern solutions. A wise move for any video enthusiast is to rely on the newer and better DVDs.

If you’d rather stick to recording live experiences with an 8mm compatible camera then you should expect to not being able to view these videos again years from now. That is, unless you promptly convert it into a newer format such as VHS or DVD. Nowadays, you can see that 8mm tapes have become obsolete because of the presence of more effective video storage formats.
